Design a product to help improve the experience in a fuel/recharge station.
Market Research
Research was conducted on both online communities and through physical observation targeting motorcycle audiences to better understand the hassle and pain points they encounter when refueling. Main points identified were the majority of bikers would use a specific motorcycle charging station, they would need somewhere to place their gear and a pump handle designed specifically for a motorcycle fuel tank would increase ease of use.
Concept Generation
Design concept for a shelter with the ability to house shelving and hooks for accessories as well as the fuel pump itself. A narrow double sided design would allow maximum use while taking up less room. Motorcycles take up much less space in urban areas and proposes a solution to the parking and congestion issues in big cities. This will also be taking steps towards a more fuel efficient society with the low fuel usage of motorcycles, the refuel station could also be adapted for electric recharging thereby offering the first steps moving towards electric mopeds.
Concepts explored involved different structures and angles as well as pump hose/handle arrangements.

The final concept shows the size and scale of the structure as well as the placement of the pump handles for ease of reach. There is an extended shelf for loose items as well as hooks for helmets, gloves or jackets.

CAD models created in Rhino helped show the construction of the shelter using recycled plastic panels bolted onto a steel frame. A concrete base would provide strength and support as per petrol handling safety guidelines.
Final Station Design
A stand alone flue pump for mopeds and motorcycles for urban spaces. Making mopeds more enticing saving space, increasing fuel efficiency, improving the fuelling experience and anticipating the electric moped industry.
Equipped with a designated pump handle design, self service option, helmet hooks and storage space for gloves and other equipment.
Constructed using steel framing with recycled Replas plastic panelling. The base is cement poured with reinforced beams meeting safety standards when dealing with petroleum.

Sketching exploring a pump handle that fits a motorcycle pump valve, with automated lock-off making fuelling easier.
